How are my recycled textiles sorted and processed?Updated 2 days ago
Who processes the items I send?
We’ve partnered with trusted experts who operate in some of the most advanced recycling facilities in North America. These partners are leaders in sustainable reuse and recycling practices.
How are items sorted?
Each item is sorted using a detailed grading system. Items are assessed based on:
Quality
Category (e.g., clothing, towels, tech)
Material type
This precision sorting ensures items are redirected appropriately, rather than blindly exported or discarded.
What’s the benefit of sorting by quality and material?
Sorting items accurately at the start improves both reuse and recycling efficiency. It also removes non-recyclable waste immediately, so energy and resources aren’t wasted further down the line.
Why is reuse prioritized over recycling?
Whenever an item can still fulfill its original purpose, reuse is the most sustainable choice. Reusing an item:
Conserves water, energy, and emissions that would be used in recycling
Extends the life of existing materials
Maximizes the value of the original resources invested in its production
Is reuse actually common?
Yes! Reuse is thriving:
70% of the world’s population wears used clothing
40% of consumers globally are purchasing refurbished devices

What happens if an item can’t be reused?
If reuse isn't an option, our partners turn to responsible recycling. Valuable materials are recovered and reintegrated into new manufacturing systems—keeping waste out of landfills and supporting a more circular economy.
